Golden Eagles Look To Continue Success At Home

The College at Brockport women's basketball team has had a hot start to the 19'-20' season, marking three wins in the book against RIT, Alfred University and Keuka College. The Golden Eagles welcome the Yellow Jackets from the University of Rochester to Jim and John Vlogianitis Gymnasium Tuesday night for their fourth non-conference matchup of the season.

Quick Look: The Golden Eagles are putting up strong numbers so far this season, putting them in a good position going into the break. Here's the breakdown –

PP/G: 64.0, FG/G: 25.7, 3PT/G: 5.3, FT/G: 7.3, REB/G: 40.3, A/G:14.7, S/G: 19.0, B/G: 4.3

Tournament Recap: This past weekend, Brockport hosted their annual Tip Off Tournament, where the Golden Eagles represented their home court well, winning their third straight championship. The team opened up the weekend with Alfred University, securing a strong win on a collective offensive effort. Julianna Taylor (12), Kylee Rosbrook (10) and Bailey Pratt (10) provided the scoring, each posting double digit numbers and shooting .500 or better from the floor.

The Green and Gold then went head to head with Keuka College in the championship game, where Pratt, Taylor and Rosbrook controlled the pace of the game once again. Pratt won the tournament MVP after posting 16 points, two assists and three steals, while shooting an impressive 6 of 10 from inside the arc and 4 of 7 from the perimeter. Taylor made the All-Tournament team as well, also leading the offense with 12 points, three steals, a block and an assist. Rosbrook rounded out a strong week, putting up a double-double performance, netting 12 points and grabbing a career-high 13 rebounds while going 6 of 11 from inside the circle. The sophomore is currently shooting above .500 through three games, completing 22-35 for a collective .629 shooting percentage.

Undefeated Effort: The Yellow Jackets have always been a tough matchup for the Golden Eagles, as the team hasn't won a game against them in over a decade. When the two met in the 2018 season, the Golden Eagles struggled to maintain possession of the ball but were able to capitalize effectively on scoring opportunities, allowing them to lead the Yellow Jackets through the first half. Chelsea Henry and Allison Chiera helped the Green and Gold keep the gap close. Henry provided 12 points, two rebounds and an assist and Chiera netted eight points five rebounds and three steals. One of the Golden Eagles strengths was their ability to produce scoring off the bench, notching 22 points on depth.

Yellow Jackets To Watch: Also only three games into their season, the Yellow Jackets hold a 2-1 record against non-conference opponents, their only loss coming at the hands of Baldwin Wallace University in the championship game of their home tournament. The team is currently averaging 66 points per game, led by freshman guard Alexis Sestric who averages 12.7 points per game while shooting .407 from the floor, .462 from three and a strong .909 from the free throw line. Forward Shannon Loiseau provides the Yellow Jackets strength under the basket, averaging 5.3 rebounds per game for a total of 16 through three games.
