Highlights:
- Junior Julianna Taylor posted a career high 27 points on Saturday, accounting for nearly half of the teams' total. Taylor's ability to execute at a quick pace and maintain composure in tight situations allowed her to shoot a strong .500 from the floor while sinking four of seven from three. The Fonda, N.Y. native also accounted for four rebounds, a block, an assist and two steals.
- Kylee Rosbrook also put up double digits for the Golden Eagles, netting 10 points and pulling down six rebounds.
How it Happened:
- The Golden Eagles and the Red Dragons both came out strong to start, trading baskets for the entire first quarter, recording five different lead changes.
- The Red Dragons controlled the pace in the second quarter, holding the Green and Gold to only five points, three of which came from a strong three by Taylor seconds before the buzzer. The Golden Eagles lack of offense in the second put them at a 17-point deficit headed into the half.
- Much like their performance against the Lakers on Friday, Brockport's offense caught fire in the third, sinking 18 total points for a game-high 41% shooting.
- Bailey Pratt was the first to put the Golden Eagles on the board in the second half, sinking three with an assist from Taylor. By the end of the quarter, Brockport had reduced the deficit to 10 with 10 to play.
- Taylor put the team on her back in the fourth quarter, recording 11 of the teams 22 points. The junior also led off the fourth quarter sinking nine of those 11 points in the first five minutes to close the gap to four.
- With a little extra help from Rosbrook, Serena Soredetto and Anna Felice, the Golden Eagles were able to get themselves within five, but couldn't maintain long enough to secure the win.
Coach Jones Thoughts:
"Very similar to last night, I am very proud of our resiliency and ability to bring the game back within single digit points. Julianna Taylor led the charge and made tough shots down the stretch. All five people on the court at that time gave a great defensive effort. I am also proud that we were able to execute offensively on the assist. Today we were able to assist on 17 of our 20 shots and I think that says a lot about our ability to share the ball and work together to make things happen."
