Brockport, NY – Matt McGowan of the Brockport baseball team was announced as the SUNYAC pitcher of the week on Monday, April 19^th. McGowan was very successful in two appearances on the mound for Brockport last week.
 
With one save and one win as a starter, McGowan helped the team secure two victories in a 4-0 week by the Golden Eagles. They have now won nine straight and are 12-2 overall and 7-1 in SUNYAC play.
 
Pitching two innings to closeout a 3-0 win over RIT, Matt struck out one batter and did not allow a single hit. He earned the save and cleared the way for a Brockport sweep over RIT in the doubleheader.
 
Later in the week McGowan was given the ball to start game two of a doubleheader with Fredonia. The junior threw for five innings and struck out a season-high eight batters, earning his first win of the season on the mound. Giving up just two hits, McGowan did not allow a single run to score either time he stepped to the rubber.
 
His strong outing led the Green and Gold to an 8-1 win, and securing yet another doubleheader sweep of Fredonia.
 
The Golden Eagles are back at home on Monday for a single-game matchup with Cazenovia. The first pitch is set to be thrown at 3:30 pm.
