Brockport, NY – On Saturday, November 12
th the SUNY Brockport cross country team heads to the University of Rochester to compete in the NCAA Niagara Regional Championships. The women's 6k race begins at 11 am, while the men's 8k is set to start at 12pm.

Awards Ceremony
Regional Rankings: Following a powerful performance at the SUNYAC Championships, both the men and women find themselves still in the top 10 in regional rankings. The men jumped up to second in the Niagara Region, while the women are sixth in the region. In the national coaches poll, the men's team is receiving nine, top-35 votes.
Results from SUNYACs: The Golden Eagles had a strong showing a couple weeks back at the SUNYAC Championships. With 35 points the men's team finished in second place, just 12 points behind nationally-ranked Geneseo. The women's team also took second place at the championship meet with 76 points.
Paul Suflita was the first Golden Eagle to cross the finish line on the men's side, placing fourth overall with a time of 25:47.8. Coming in at fifth place was Jonathan Zavala, clocking in at 25:50.4 right behind Suflita. Dillon VanDemortel was close to his teammates, taking sixth place with a time of 25:55.2.
Jared Smith also snuck inside the top 10 in the men's 8k. He finished in 26:01.2 to earn eighth place in the race. Sean Killip ran a time of 26:18.5 to take 12
th place for a top 15 finish.
Kerry Flower set the tone for the women's team with a time of 22:51.8 to take second place overall in the 6k.
Veronica Dailey earned a top 15 finish, coming in at 12
th with a time of 23:46.6.
Placing 20
th at the championship meet,
Olivia Annunziato clocked in at 24:46.4 for a top 20 finish.
Sarah Davis and
Lauren Yonko finished 22
nd and 24
th in the race with respective times of 25:04.6 and 25:26.0.
Last Year's Regionals: The Golden Eagles had a top 10 finisher for both the men and women at the 2021 NCAA Regional Championships. Graduate Ethan Carey took second overall for the men, while Kerry flower placed sixth for the women.
Four women placed in the top 75 out of 141 total racers. As the team's top runner,
Kerry Flower finished in 6th place with a time of 23:22.0. Rose Pitman ran her 6k in the time frame of 25:20.8 for a 55th place finish, as teammate Sarah Tingley finished the race in 56th place with a time of 25:22.5.
Veronica Dailey finished the race with a time of 25:57.8 for 72nd place.
Olivia Furman rounds out the top five finishers for Brockport having recorded a time of 26:24.0.
The next top four runners for the men consisted of
Jared Smith who placed 42nd with a time of 26:40.6.
Gavin Vlainich who ran the 8k in 26:59.5 for a 54th place finish. Next Thomas Kressly ran the race completing it In the span of 27:57.1. Rounding out the top five for Brockport's men's racers was
Cristian Zabala who finished the 8k in the time span of 29.02.6 for a 115th place finish.
NCAA National Qualifications: After the regional meet, the winning team (one) per gender in each region automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships. The other 22 teams to compete will be at-large selections. Outside of team qualifies, individual NCAA qualifiers have to earn a spot at nationals with a great performance at the regional championships.
