Golden Eagles Set to Host Split Double Header Followed by SUNYAC Series vs Oswego State

BROCKPORT, NY – The SUNY Brockport team will prepare for a busy week ahead with a split non-conference doubleheader against The Sage Colleges and Ithaca College on Wednesday followed by a SUNY Series this upcoming weekend at Oswego State.
 
Looking Back: The Golden Eagles previously faced RIT and Wells College last week which saw Brockport go 2-0. Against the Tigers, Brockport recorded an 8-5 victory followed by a lopsided 16-1 victory at Wells.
 
Against RIT, Zach Eldred recorded a big two-run homer as Justin Pangburn recorded two doubles along with two RBIs from James Houlahan. Ryan Voight batted 2-for-4 in the contest with a double, one run, and one RBI. Colin Pytlak would get the win after taking over for Cooper Meldrim in the fifth inning as Matthew Colucci would record his second save of the season to close out the game.
 
Facing Wells, the following day, Brockport's bats came up big as the team recorded a total of 19 hits against the express with 10 extra-base hits in the game. Ryan Mansell, James Houlahan, and Tom Kretzler each recorded two doubles while Jake Sisto and Nick Ianniello each recorded one double in the game.
 
Andrew Huffman (6-1) recorded four innings on the mound to start the game striking a total of eight batters along the way. From there, the Golden Eagles would pitch by committee as Keegan Jarvais Tom Kretzler, Nick Lawlor, Justin DelVecchio, and Michael Heilig each got an inning of work in on the bump. Kretzler and DelVecchio each recorded two strikeouts in their appearance while all other pitchers recorded at least one strikeout. In total, the Golden Eagles combined for 15 strikeouts in the game.
 
Triples King: Graduate Student Nicholas Pastore tallied two triples against the Express giving him six triples this season and 10 for his career. His 10 triples in a career break a 34-year-old record set by Jim Voutour who played from 1985 to 1988 and hit nine triples in his career. Dan Hurlimann set the single-season triples record back in 2013 when he hit five that season. Pastore currently ranks second in the country in triples this season.
 
 
SUNYAC Stats: Brockport's Pitching staff has been dealing all season leading the conference in WHIP (1.17), Wins-Loss percentage (0.840), Walks allowed per game (2.63), K/9 (10.3), K-BB Ratio (3.92) along with the lowest earned runs average (2.99).
 
Amongst individual statistics, Andrew Huffman leads the conference in K/9 (12.71), WHIP (0.91), and K-BB Ratio (7.00)
 
Nation Stats: In the country, the team ranks third in strikeout-walk ratio, fifth in both WHIP and ERA, seventh in Walks allowed per Nine Innings, and eighth in both Wins-loss percentage and shutouts.
 
Looking Ahead: The Golden Eagles will follow this week by playing non-conference games against St. John Fisher College and the University of Rochester next week on Tuesday and Wednesday followed by a SUNYAC series against Paltz. Saturday, April 20th's doubleheader will also be the team's Senior Day along with the Senior-Athlete BBQ.
