Baseball Heads to Virginia for a Full Weekend of Action

Brockport, NY - The Golden Eagles baseball team will travel to Virginia seeking their first win of the season. Brockport will take on Roanoke College Saturday, March 4th at 6pm. The squad will finish the action in Virginia with games on March 5th against Franklin and Marshall College at 10am, and #15 Marietta College at 2pm.
 
Last Time Out: Brockport combined for just one run during the February 26th doubleheader on opening day. The team fell to Kean University, 3-1, to start the season before the 2-0 loss to Misericordia University in the second game.
 
Against Kean University, Matthew Colucci posted a strong outing in relief, posting five strikeouts and allowing just two hits across 3.2 innings of work. Zach Eldred brought in the team's only run, scoring Nicholas Pastore on a sacrifice.
 
Against Misericordia, Brian Tietjen was the lone player with multiple hits, going 2 for 3 in the contest. The Golden Eagles' pitching staff allowed just 3 hits across nine innings of work, the loan blemish being a two-run single in the second that would go the distance. Joe Valenti posted a complete game for Misericordia, striking out five and allowing just five hits across nine innings.
 
Scouting Roanoke College: The Maroons have opened the season 4-4, most recently sweeping Elizabethtown at home in doubleheader action by scores of 6-4 and 10-7. Roanoke College will take on Franklin & Marshall on March 4th at 10 am before taking on Brockport at 6 pm.
 
Scouting Franklin & Marshall: Through their first 5 games the Diplomats have posted a 1-4 record, with their lone win coming over Cabrini College on the road 6-4. Franklin & Marshall will have matchups with Messiah on March 2nd, Roanoke and Marietta on March 4th, before taking on Brockport on March 5th at 10 am. Brockport has won the lone meeting between the two schools dating back to 2012, an 8-4 victory for the Golden Eagles.
 
Scouting Marietta: Marietta College opened the year ranked 6th in the D3baseball.com top 25 polls and has since fallen to 15th after a 2-2 start to the season. The Pioneers were most recently on the short end of a 10-0 trounce against now #18 Christopher Newport University. Marietta will play a doubleheader against Case Western Reserve University on March 1st, before matching up with the Golden Eagles on March 5th at 2 pm.
 
Next Up: The Golden Eagles will take part in the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational, spanning from Saturday, March 11th to Sunday, March 19th. Below is the full schedule for the trip down south.
