Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport Baseball team will look to get back on a winning streak this week starting with a Wednesday afternoon game April 12
th at 3pm against Russel Sage College, at the University at Albany's Varsity Field. This weekend the men will travel to Fredonia State to face the Blue Devils in a 3-game SUNYAC series. The first game will be Friday, April 14
th at 3pm, followed by a doubleheader Saturday April 15
th starting at 12pm.
Last Time Out: The Golden Eagles went 1-3 last week, putting an end to their 10-game winning streak.
Against Fisher: The team traveled to St. John Fisher on Tuesday and battled all nine innings but came up short with a 2-1 loss. The men had a total of five hits and one run.
Against Oneonta: The first game of the 3-game series against the Red Dragons, ended in a 0-1 game. The Golden Eagles put up a total of three hits throughout the nine innings.
The second game, the Men put up two runs but fell short once again due to Oneonta scoring three runs.
Zach Eldred hit a single to left field brining
Nicholas Pastore home in the first, followed by
James Houlahan batting in Eldred with a single to right. The Golden Eagles didn't score in the other eight innings, letting Oneonta steal the lead in the fourth. Brockport had a total of six hits in this game one of which was a double form Pastore.
The final game of the three-game series was looking up in Brockport's favor. The men finished the long week with a 3-1 win. Pastore reached first on an error in the third inning and brought home both
Quinn Mahoney and
Nick Mahar. Later in that inning Eldred batted home Pastore, for the final run of the game.
Looking at Russel Sage: Russel Sage has a record of 10-15 overall this season and is on a four game losing streak. James Lubanski had brought home a total of 23 of his teammates this season across 88 appearances at the plate. He has a total of 34 hits and 20 runs. Brendan Espinal has brought home 19 of his teammates with his 35 hits and 20 runs.
Looking at Fredonia State: The Blue Devils are 5-16 overall and 0-6 heading into this weekend of conference play. Garrett Stuckey and Tyler Curtis lead the Blue Devils in scoring. Stuckey has batted in 21 teammates across his 69 appearances at bat. He has a total of 17 runs and 21 hits. Curtis has brought home 13 teammates across 53 at bats and had 14 hits and 9 runs so far this season.
