Brockport, NY - The Golden Eagles baseball team will be home for a busy week of action. They take on the University of Rochester on Wednesday, April 19
th before hosting a 3-game set against #24 Cortland this weekend. The first day of the SUNYAC series will be a doubleheader on Friday starting at 12pm, with a single game on Saturday 12 pm.

Last Time Out: Brockport extended its winning streak to 5 games following a dominant sweep of Fredonia on the road. Brockport won all three games of the series (12-2, 17-3, and 12-7) to improve to 19-9 overall and 10-2 in the conference.

Game One:

Ryan Voight got the scoring going early with an RBI single in the second, the first of three RBIs for him in game one. RF
Zach Eldred launched a two-run homer in the third to put Brockport up 3-0 before a
Nicholas Pastore grand slam in the 4
th to give the Green and Gold a commanding 7-0 lead. That would be more than enough run support for
Adam Douglas (W, 4-1) and
Nick Ianniello (S,2), as they would combine for just one run allowed with 11 strikeouts.

Game Two: The Golden Eagles scored early and often in a 17-3 win in game two. DH
Brian Tietjen went perfect at the plate, going 4 for 4 with 4 RBIs and a two-run home run in the 1
st to put Brockport up 3-0. Fredonia would respond with 3 runs in the 4
th to cut the lead to 5-3 before Brockport would score the final 12 runs to close out the contest.
Matthew Colucci got the win with a solid outing, going 6.1 innings, striking out 9, and allowing just two earned runs.

Game Three: 1B
Patrick Bigham opened the scoring with a 2 RBI double in the first, and Brockport would once again jump out to an early 7-0 lead in the third. Fredonia would answer with 6 unanswered runs to cut the lead to 7-6.
James Houlahan would give Brockport some breathing room with a 2 RBI single in the 8
th to go up 10-6, one of three hits for him on the game.
Colin Pytlak picked up the win, striking out 8 across 5.1 innings of work, improving his record to 4-3. Brockport improved to 19-9 on the season with a 10-2 record in SUNYAC play.

SUNYAC Baseball Athlete of the Week: Nicholas Pastore earned SUNYAC Baseball Athlete of the Week after recording his 200
th career hit against Fredonia. In a 4-0 week for the Green and Gold, he finished 10-for-17 at the plate with 13 RBIs, seven runs scored, and two grand slams.

Zach Eldred ranks first in SUNYAC play in stolen bases (7), second in runs (15), hits (17), and total bases (27).

Scouting Rochester: Rochester holds a strong 19-10 record overall with an 11-2 record in conference play, most recently sweeping Vassar College in a two-game set. U of R boasts a consistent lineup with 6 batters hitting .313 or better and 4 batters with 3 home runs on the season. Nolan Sparks leads the Yellowjacket's rotation with a perfect record of 5-0 and 52 strikeouts in just 40 innings. Brockport has won the last 3 head to head meetings, including the last matchup 8-6. Â

Scouting Cortland: The Red Dragons hold the longest winning streak in Division 3 at 17 games and sit first in the SUNYAC with a 22-7 overall record and 12-0 record in the SUNYAC. Cortland leads the SUNYAC in almost every team offensive statistic, including batting average, OBP, slugging, and RBIs, among others. Will McCarthy and Dylan Beers serve as the workhorses of the Cortland pitching staff, holding a combined 10-1 record in 13 starts and 60 combined punchouts. Cortland has won the last 3 matchups against Brockport.
