Baseball to Host Rochester in Non-Conference Play

Brockport, NY- The Brockport baseball team will host the University of Rochester on Tuesday, April 16th at 4 p.m.
 
Last Time Out: The Golden Eagles were defeated in the 3rd game of a three-game set with Oswego, 5-3, on Sunday, April 14th. Brockport moved to 15-9 overall and 4-5 in SUNYAC play following the loss.
 
Cole Traudt recorded the lone extra-base hit for Brockport, going 2 for 4 with a double.
 
Colin Pytlak (3.1 IP, 2 ER), Troy Leibert (1.1 IP, 1ER), and Brian Doherty (1.1 IP, 0 ER) combined for just 3 earned runs across 6 innings of work (3 strikeouts).
 
Josh Index went 1 for 4 from the leadoff spot, coming around to score in the 8th inning.
 
Nick Mahar reached base safety twice, drawing two walks.
 
Limiting the Opposition: The Brockport pitching staff has been excellent thus far when it comes to limiting scoring opportunities for the opposition. The Golden Eagles rank as the SUNYAC's best in earned run average (4.36), strikeout-to-walk ratio (2.71, 11th nationally), and strikeouts per nine innings (9.9, 10th nationally).
 
Heating Up: Leading the Golden Eagles in AVG (.406), OPS (1.107), and SLG% (.667), Cole Traudt has given the Brockport offense a much-needed boost. Amid a 6-game-hitting streak, Traudt has gone 12 for 26 (0.461) with 5 doubles, 5 runs, and 3 RBIs. The sophomore has recorded a hit or better in 10 of his last 11 games, with 9 multi-hit outings on the season.
 
Scouting Rochester: The Yellowjackets hold a 12-12 record with a 7-2 mark in Liberty League play, most recently falling to Cortland at home, 11-7. Senior Alec Ellison leads the charge offensively for Rochester, posting a team-best .409/.429/.613 slash line with 27 RBIs. Brockport will enter Tuesday's game looking to extend their head-to-head winning streak to 5 games.
 
Up Next: The Golden Eagles will host a three-game set against New Paltz, with game one scheduled for Friday, April 19th at 3 p.m., with a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at noon.
