Baseball to Host a Pair of Non-Conference Matchups

Brockport, NY- The Brockport baseball team will host a pair of non-conference matchups, beginning with a matchup against St. John Fishers on Tuesday, April 23rd at 4 p.m. The Golden Eagles will have a quick turnaround, facing Ithaca College on Wednesday, April 24th at 4 p.m.
 
Last Time Out: The Golden Eagles split Saturday's doubleheader against New Paltz, winning game one 5-1 before falling 10-1 in game two.
 
Game One:
 
Justin DelVecchio (W, 3-1) put together a great outing, tossing 7.2 innings of 1-run baseball with 7 strikeouts.  
 
Chris Martin had a day at the plate, driving in 3 runs across a 3 for 4 day at the plate.
 
TJ Strevell (1 RBI) and Nick Mahar scored two runs each, going 2 for 4 in game 1.
 
Angelo Agro (S,1) shut the door for Brockport, going 1.1 scoreless innings with a punchout.
 
Game Two:
 
Zach Eldred reached base safely twice (2 walks).
 
Colin Pylak (L, 2-2) provided a solid outing, allowing just 1 earned run across 4.2 innings with 6 strikeouts.   
 
Bullpen's Best: The Golden Eagles bullpen has provided excellent relief throughout the season, with multiple arms holding sub-2 earned run averages. Across 6 appearances and 8 innings of work, Brian Doherty has yet to allow an earned run, striking out 11 batters on the season. Angelo Agro holds a 1.50 ERA across 9 appearances, striking out nearly half of the batters he has faced (17 of 37). Splitting between the starting rotation and bullpen, Tyler Pohlman has been excellent, posting a 1.64 ERA across 11 innings of work with 16 punchouts.
 
Scouting St. John Fisher: The Cardinals currently sit 16-15 overall and 12-2 in Empire 8 play, most recently defeating Houghton 10-4. Brian Norsen brings power to the Cardinals lineup, leading the team with 7 homers, 41 RBIs, and a 1.157 OPS. The Golden Eagles will look to snap a two-game skid in the head-to-head series.
 
Scouting Ithaca: The Bombers enter with a 19-10 mark overall with a 5-3 record in Liberty League play, currently on a two-game winning streak. The head-to-head series has been competitive, with the two teams splitting the last 8 matchups since 2016.
 
Up Next: The Golden Eagles will head to Plattsburgh for a three-game set, beginning on Friday, April 26th at 3 p.m.
