Field Hockey Hosts Utica in Critical Empire 8 Matchup

BROCKPORT, NY- The Brockport Field Hockey team will host Utica University on Saturday, October 25th at 3 pm. With the Golden Eagles currently holding the final spot in the Empire 8 Conference Tournament, Saturday's clash with Utica will hold serious playoff implications.

E8 Outlook: Brockport holds a one-game lead on Utica for sixth place and the final spot in the E8 Tournament. With two games remaining, the Golden Eagles can clinch a postseason berth with a win over Utica and can climb as high as the #4 seed with wins over Utica & Fisher and back-to-back losses from St. John Fisher and Hartwick. A loss against Utica would force the Golden Eagles to defeat St. John Fisher on the road and have Utica fall to Russell Sage to clinch postseason play.

Postseason Streak: With a win over Utica on Saturday, head coach Krista Archambeau would clinch her third straight postseason appearance. Archambeau has led the Golden Eagles to a 31-21 record across the program's last three seasons.

Finding Her Groove: Tied for the team lead in goals with six, freshman Elise Brady has stepped up for the Golden Eagles throughout the season. Leading the squad with three game-winning goals, Brady has provided a much-needed boost to the Golden Eagles' offensive attack, racking up five points (2G,1A) across her last three outings. The Orchard Park native has found the back of the net in two of her last three outings.

Doing the Dirty Work: Starting all 15 games in her first season with the Green and Gold, Emily Nestor has played an important role in the Brockport midfield/backline. The freshman from Liverpool, NY, leads Brockport in minutes played (873), playing all 60 minutes in 14 of 15 contests on the season. Nestor has posted a goal and two assists on the season, adding a defensive save on the Brockport backline.

Scouting Utica: The Pioneers have posted a 4-9 overall record and a 3-5 mark in conference play, most recently falling at home to Hartwick, 4-1. The Golden Eagles are looking to secure their fourth straight win over Utica since 2022.

Up Next: Brockport will head to Rochester, NY, to face off with St. John Fisher on Wednesday, October 29th at 4 pm.
