Pharell Aybar was chosen as the Men's Basketball Co-Rookie of the Week following his exceptional collegiate debut.
Aybar delivered a dominant performance in the season opener on Saturday night, starting the game and leading the Golden Eagles to a 96-87 victory over Ithaca. In 28 minutes of action, Aybar scored 19 points, shooting an efficient 55.6% from the field (5-9), while remaining perfect from the three-point line (1-1) and the free-throw line (8-8).
Aybar's debut was marked by stellar defense and clutch execution. He racked up an astonishing seven steals, showcasing intense defensive pressure, and added 5 rebounds. His perfect free-throw shooting proved critical, with all eight of his clutch free throws coming in the final five minutes of the second half, securing the nine-point win for Brockport. This impressive outing sets a high standard for the freshman guard as the Golden Eagles begin their 2025-26 campaign.
