Brockport, NY – The wrestling team kicked off the 2025-26 season at the Messiah Invitational in Grantham, PA where they finished the day in third place with 130.5 points.
Jaden Friel showed out, taking third place and scoring 18.5 points after a major decision win in the Champ Round 2 and the quarterfinals. He finished out the day with a win by fall 24 seconds into the match in the 3
rdplace match.
Tanner King placed fourth in the invite and earned 17 points after a tech fall win and a major decision win. King then won by fall and decision in the Cons Round 4 and 5.
Finishing in fourth and earning 17 team points was
Kiam Coleman. Coleman won by fall in the Cons Rounds 2-4 and a major decision in round 5. In the cons semi-round, Coleman took the decisive win to end the day.
Robert Armstrong had a day clinching third place and earning 16.5 points. Armstrong win in a sudden victory in the Champ Round 2, and by fall in the quarterfinals. Armstrong went on to take the sudden victory win in the Cons Semi and by fall in the 3
rd place match.
Tyler Rossini clinched third place and scored 16 points for the Golden Eagles after a decisive win and tech fall win. Rossini went on to win by decision in the quarter finals and finished out the day winning by no contest in the 3
rd place match.
Makhare Rogers finished in third place and scored 16 points after he won by tech fall and decision in the Champ Round 1 and 2. Rogers took the win by sudden victory in the quarter finals and finished out the day with a win by no contest in the 3
rd place match.
Trevor Middendorf finished the day strong in fourth place and earned 15 points for the team. Middendorf took the win by tech fall in the Champ Round 2, won by tech fall in the quarterfinal round and the Cons Semi round.
Earning 13.5 points for Brockport was
Avery Bustamante, following a decided win, a sudden victory win, and a win by fall and major decision. Bustamante ended the competition with a win by no contest in the 3
rd place match.
Mike Welsh took fifth place on the day, scoring 12.5 points following a win by tech fall, major decision, and decision in the Cons Round 3-5. Welsh finished with a win by medical forfeit in the 5
th-place match.
Gavin McLaughlin showed out with a fifth-place finish, earning 11 points. McLaughlin won by fall in the Champ Round 2 and by decision in the quarterfinal round. McLaughlin finished out the match with a win by no contest in the 5
th-place match.
