Brockport, NY—The #25 Brockport baseball team will travel to Houghton for Empire 8 competition on Tuesday, April 1st at 3pm.
 
Last Outing: The Golden Eagles fell on the road at RPI, 7-6, on Saturday, March 29^th. Brockport dropped to 14-2-1 on the season after the loss.
 
In a big-time RBI spot in the seventh, Jason Story would rise to the occasion with an RBI single to tie the game at 6-6.

Matt Mayer, Chris Martin, and Victor Alongi would post two hits each in a strong effort.
 
Tyler Pohlman was excellent in relief, tossing 1.1 scoreless frames with three punchouts.

Record Breaking Streak: Zach Eldred (1-5, RBI) would make program history with a hit for his 20^th straight game, marking the longest hit streak in Brockport Baseball history. Starting back on May 3rd, 2024, Eldred has at least one hit in every game played with the Golden Eagles since. He has a chance to extend his historical hit streak at Houghton on Tuesday.

Heating Up: Picking up back-to-back starts against Oneonta and RPI, Victor Alongi has emerged as a threat in the Brockport lineup. Over the weekend, Alongi went 5-10 at the plate, adding three runs scored. The Rochester, NY native has posted a hit or better in his last six games with an at-bat, hitting .400 (10-25) with seven runs scored over that stretch.
 
Premier Pitching: The Brockport pitching staff has been strong through 16 games, with all three of Brockport's qualified pitchers holding ERAs under 3.00. Anthony Lapine (2.08 ERA, 4-0), Angelo Agro (2.96 ERA, 3-1), and Zach Eldred (2.63 ERA, 3-0) have highlighted the staff, with Ryan Peters (2.31, 2-0), and Tyler Pohlman (2.79, 1-0) each picking up a start for Brockport.
 
As a staff, Golden Eagle pitchers have held opposing hitters to just .231 hitting at the plate, allowing only two home runs across 144 innings of work.
 
Scouting Houghton: The Highlanders hold a 10-8 record with a 2-4 mark in Empire 8 play and are currently in the midst of a three-game losing streak. Tuesday's contest will mark the first meeting between Houghton and Brockport since 2019 and the first as members of the Empire 8. The 2019 matchup saw Brockport roll to a 4-1 win.
