Following a complete game shutout in Brockport's 2-0 win over Russell Sage on Friday, Zach Eldred was named the Empire 8 Pitcher of the Week, earning his fifth weekly award of the season. Eldred snapped Russell Sage's 12-game winning streak in the DH opener on Friday, firing a complete game shutout with seven strikeouts and allowing just three hits and one walk. He needed just 76 pitches to shut down a Russell Sage offense that averaged nearly 12 runs per game in conference play heading into last weekend. 

In his first season as a full-time pitcher, Eldred has pitched to a perfect 6-0 record in nine starts, striking out 57 batters across 47 innings of work. Holding an excellent 1.72 ERA and a strong 1.02 WHIP, Eldred has surrendered just nine earned runs and nine extra-base hits to the 195 batters he's faced this season. 

Just as impressive with the bat, Eldred has slashed an absurd .441/.496/.890 with 14 home runs, 55 RBI, and 105 total bases, ranking among the top hitters in Division 3 in numerous statistical categories. He has also set a new program record hit streak, recording a hit or better in 30 straight games for Brockport.

The #12/15 ranked Golden Eagles will head to Rochester to take on St. John Fisher in DH action, beginning on Tuesday, April 22nd at 12:30 pm.
