Box Score Ashland, VA – The SUNY Brockport baseball team lost its first game of the NCAA Regional Round against Methodist on Friday, 10-0.
Anthony Lapine (L, 9-1) suffered his first loss of the season in the contest. As the starter for the game, Lapine went 3.2 innings with five strikeouts and seven earned runs allowed.
Thomas DiGirolomo and
Brendan Pajak each threw 2.2 innings in relief.
Methodist University got right to work in the top of the first inning, scoring four early runs to take a quick lead. Adding to the tally on the scoreboard, the Monarchs would end up with an 8-0 lead going into the fifth.
The Golden Eagles were held to just three hits in the game, as they were unable to generate much offensively.

Josh Indek (1-3), and
Jason Mansell (1-2) all connected at the plate.
Already with an 8-run lead, Methodist was able to score one more run in the sixth and another in the eighth. Steady offense paired with a complete game shutout pitching effort, lead the way for the 10-0 win to start the regional in Ashland, VA.
Brockport is back in action early on Saturday morning to face off against the host school for the weekend, Randolph-Macon College. This NCAA Regional matchup will serve as an elimination game, starting at 8:30am back at Hugh Stephens Field at Estes Park.
