Brockport, NY – On Tuesday, July 22
nd, the Women's Basketball Coaches Association announced its 2024-25 Academic Top 25 Team Honor Rolls. The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes college women's basketball teams across the nation in their respective divisions that carry the highest combined GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season.
"The WBCA is pleased to recognize those women's basketball programs that have committed themselves to excellence on the court and in the classroom," said WBCA Executive Director Danielle Donehew. "The 119 teams we honor this year strive to achieve all-around success, and we commend their efforts. Congratulations!"
The Brockport women's basketball team was named to the Division III Special Mention list for back-to-back seasons, with the squad holding a 3.586 team GPA. The 2024-25 team saw a team GPA increase from the 2023-24 season (3.409 GPA), marking drastic improvements both on and off the hardwood.
The Golden Eagles finished the 2024-25 campaign with a 24-5 overall record and 15-1 mark in Empire 8 play, marking the most single-season wins since 2007-08. Advancing to the Empire 8 Championship as first-year members, Brockport punched its ticket to NCAA Championships for the first time since 2008-09.
The team would earn numerous postseason awards, including
Stephanie Jean-Baptiste and
Kaileigh Hunt being named to the USBWA Rochester Area First Team and head coach
Corinne Jones being named the Rochester Area and Region 3 Coach of the Year. Freshman
Peyton Maneri was named the Empire 8 Conference Rookie of the Year, with the Brockport coaching staff earning E8 Coaching Staff of the Year honors.
Seeing an increase in wins in each season since 2022-23, the program will look to continue its upward trajectory, opening the 2025-26 season against Penn State Behrend on Saturday, November 8
th.
