BROCKPORT, NY - The Brockport Women's Basketball team returns to action at home against Rochester on Saturday, January 3rd at 1 PM.
Last Outing: The Golden Eagles came up short against nationally ranked John Carroll in Ohio, 96-70, on Friday, December 5th. Brockport fell to 4-4 on the season following the loss.
Claire Turner had a big day defensively, recording four blocks in the first quarter, finishing with five on the day. Turner led all players in blocks and rebounds (13), adding six points in a strong effort.
Brianna Carey led all Brockport scorers with 14 points (7-13), adding three rebounds in a strong outing.
Addy VanDewater was excellent off the bench, pouring in 11 points on 60% shooting from beyond the arc (3-5).
Mandy Brink (4 AST, 3-6 3PT) and
Peyton Maneri (5-11 FG, 2 REB) each dropped 12 points to round out the double-figure scorers for Brockport.
Defending Home Court: Despite facing fierce competition to open the season, the Golden Eagles have thrived on home court, posting a 3-0 record. Following a dominate 86-66 win over William Smith in November, Brockport picked up a pair of critical regional victories. The Green and Gold hold wins over Ithaca College (80-75) and RIT (65-61) and will look to win their fifth straight regular season home contest dating back to the 2024-25 season.
Heating Up: Transferring to Brockport for her junior season,
Brianna Carey has become a fixture of the Golden Eagles starting lineup. Carey has embarked on a impressive scoring streak, dropping 12+ points in each of her last four games. Her best outing came in Brockport's 20-point victory over William Smith, posting season high's in points (19) and steals (7).
Scouting Rochester: The Yellowjackets hold a 5-4 record, most recently falling to Stevens at home, 67-64 back on December 7th. The Golden Eagles have won two of the last three head-to-head matchups, defeating Rochester 61-57 in the 2023-24 season.
