Brockport, NY – The Brockport Baseball team (11-13, 7-0 E8) will travel to St. John Fisher (17-5, 6-1 E8) for midweek action on Wednesday, April 8 at 3 p.m.

Last Week:
The Golden Eagles posted a perfect 4-0 record in Empire 8 play last week, defeating Houghton 11-1 last Wednesday before completing a three-game road sweep of Elmira, capped by a 22-7 victory on Sunday. Scoring 11 or more runs in all four contests, Brockport outscored its conference opponents 65-23 in a dominant stretch, extending its winning streak to nine games.

Against Houghton, Ben Yerina (W, 2-2) delivered a near-flawless performance, allowing just four baserunners (2 H) over five innings while recording six strikeouts. Across three starts for Brockport, Yerina has allowed only one earned run, compiling an impressive 0.45 ERA with 20 strikeouts over 20 innings pitched. On the season, the sophomore leads Brockport in ERA (3.56), WHIP (1.05), and opponent batting average (.209).

In a 19-13 victory over Elmira on Friday, Nick Ianniello provided critical stability out of the bullpen, pitching the final 4.1 innings while allowing just one earned run and striking out four.

The Golden Eagles hit five home runs in Friday's contest against Elmira, with Blake Fortunato, Matt Mayer, Kyle Blake, and Matthew Coon (2) all going deep.

In game three against Elmira, Brockport's offense delivered a historic performance, recording its highest single-game run total since 2021 (23 vs. Cazenovia) and its most hits in a game in over 15 seasons.

Evan Brock, Michael Norton, and James Dixon each recorded four-hit performances in game two. Brock (8 RBI, 2 HR), Dixon (5 RBI, 4 R), and Norton (HR) all posted season-best efforts during the doubleheader.

E8 AOTW:
Tyler Pohlman and Matthew Coon earned Empire 8 weekly honors, being named Pitcher and Co-Player of the Week, respectively, following outstanding performances. In game one against Elmira, Pohlman struck out seven over six innings without allowing an earned run.

Amid a 13-game hitting streak, Matthew Coon went 9-for-17 (.529) with three home runs (six extra-base hits), 11 runs scored, and eight RBI on the week. His top performance came in Brockport's 19–13 win over Elmira on Friday, when he recorded three hits, including two home runs, and five RBI. The graduate student currently holds a 19-game on-base streak.

Working Hard:
Leading the Empire 8 with 260 hits, the Golden Eagles' offense demonstrates a strong balance of patience and power. Josh Indek, who leads the conference with 23 walks and holds a .474 OBP, headlines a group of six Golden Eagles with an on-base percentage above .410. With 21 home runs on the season, Brockport ranks second in the Empire 8, led by Matthew Coon and Evan Brock with five home runs each.

Scouting St. John Fisher:
The Cardinals enter the matchup on an eight-game winning streak, most recently defeating St. Joseph's (LI) 7-5 last Saturday. Brockport will look to continue its recent success in the series, having posted a 3-1-1 record over the last five meetings.
