Brockport, N.Y. – The Empire 8 Conference announced its final 2025-26 Commissioner's Cup standings on Thursday, May 21, with the Golden Eagles earning a third-place finish among 12 member institutions. Brockport totaled 141.5 points out of a possible 198 to cap another successful year of athletic achievement across the department.
Commissioner's Cup points are awarded based on each team's finish in the Empire 8 regular-season and postseason standings. Points are scaled according to the number of conference schools sponsoring each sport, excluding affiliate members. A team's regular-season and postseason finishes are averaged to determine its final point total for that sport, while regular-season ties are broken using conference tiebreaker procedures. Each institution's overall percentage is then calculated by dividing its total points by the maximum possible points available based on conference-sponsored sports.
Brockport's Women's Flag Football team highlighted the year by capturing the Empire 8's inaugural Women's Flag Football Championship, helping lead the Golden Eagles' strong showing in the standings. Brockport also recorded seven conference runner-up finishes, with men's and women's soccer, men's indoor and outdoor track and field, men's basketball, and men's and women's swimming and diving all contributing to the program's 141.5-point total.
"This is a reflection of the collective commitment and competitiveness of our entire department," said Director of Athletics Dr. Erick Hart. "To see so many of our programs succeed at a high level across multiple seasons speaks to the culture we've built here at Brockport."
With a strong foundation established among the Empire 8's top programs, the Golden Eagles will look to build on a successful 2025-26 campaign and continue their rise in the Commissioner's Cup standings in the years ahead.
