Kelly Nowak (Orchard Park, NY/Sacred Heart) led The College at Brockport Volleyball team with 28 kills in the final two matches of the season Saturday afternoon as the Golden Eagles took on Lycoming College and Nazareth College in the New York State Regional Challenge Tournament at the University of Rochester.
Brockport dropped a 3-1 decision to Lycoming by scores of 22-25, 14-25, 25-22 and 11-25 before losing in three sets to Nazareth by match scores of 14-25, 25-27 and 20-25.
Nowak led the way with 14 kills in each match. She also recorded a team-leading 16 digs and had three blocks against Lycoming and chipped in nine digs in the Nazareth match.
Nicole Jones (West Charlton, NY/Galway) had nine kills and three blocks against Lycoming and nine kills in the Nazareth match.
Jaime Snyder (Elmira, NY/Thomas Edison) had a team-high four blocks against Lycoming as well as 10 digs while
Breanna Horton (Owego, NY/Owego) added 11 digs in the Lycoming match and eight digs and two aces in the Nazareth match.
The 28 kills give Nowak a career total of 1,355 placing her third on the all-time list and her 527 kills for the season ranks fifth on the all-time records list at Brockport. The 527 kills for the season is the most in the past 10 years.
