Volleyball Drops SUNYAC Opener to Fredonia

Five match win streak comes to an end in Pool Play opener

Freshman Amanda Riebe (Pleasant Valley, NY/Millbrook) continued her streak of consecutive matches with double-digit kills to nine as she recorded 10 kills for The College at Brockport Volleyball team but it was the only bright spot in a 3-0 loss to Fredonia in the first round of State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Pool Play Friday afternoon in Brockport.

The Golden Eagles (9-7) dropped a tight 26-24 decision in the first game but fell by scores of 25-16 and 25-14 in the final two games as Fredonia (10-6) had control of the match after the first game.

For the match, Jessica Greiner (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) handed out 21 assists, Mary Cocking (Bergen, NY/Byron-Bergen) led the way with 16 digs while Jaime Snyder (Elmira, NY/Thomas Edison) and Liz Dates (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) each chipped in 10 digs and Hannalee Fordyce (Amityville, NY/Copiaque) added three blocks for the Golden Eagles.

Brockport continues pool play Saturday with a 10 am match against Geneseo and a 12:30 pm match vs. Plattsburgh.
