Box Score NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The College at Brockport Women's Volleyball team put its undefeated record against State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) opponents on the line Friday evening with a match against Buffalo State and remained unbeaten setting the stage for a contest against New Paltz tomorrow and a chance to host the SUNYAC tournament.
Brockport (26-1 Overall, 7-0 SUNYAC) defeated Buffalo State in consecutive sets by scores of 25-15, 25-16 and 25-16. The Green and Gold will face SUNYAC pool play host New Paltz tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. in a showcase of two SUNYAC unbeatens.
Outside hitter Sam Holdredge was firing on all cylinders Friday to lead the Golden Eagles. She was all over the court Friday, posting nine kills with not a single error, much like Brockport's unblemished conference record. The junior hitter also demonstrated great poise with 11 digs to go with her .474 hitting percentage on the night.
Also making major contributions on the court Friday were Kayla Barber, Ashley Capone and Jamie Schlesinger as the trio combined for 25 kills. Barber led the team with 10 kills while leading the Green and Gold to a commanding 5-0 lead serving during the second set of the match.
Schlesinger also contributed 10 assists which were only bettered by setting ace Noelle Poloncarz. Poloncarz finished the match with 30 assists and tied for the lead in aces with four. Barber was the other Golden Eagle with four aces.
Libero Kathleen Irwin led the team with 14 digs as Rachel Fiser helped lead Brockport on multiple runs while serving including the final point of the match.
