Box Score BROCKPORT, N.Y. – Freshman Carly Bulich had herself quite the game for The College at Brockport Women's Soccer team Friday afternoon, as the Golden Eagles defeated Medaille 4-0 in a nonconference matchup on A. Huntley Parker Jr. Field.
Brockport (3-2-1) dominated the grass field all day as the Golden Eagles attack pressured the Mustangs at a relentless pace. The Green and Gold finished with 34 combined shots compared to only a single Medaille shot.
Bulich got things rolling for Brockport early in the first half as she sent a low pass through traffic to teammate Chelsea Stahl who controlled the ball with one touch and sent it past the Maverick goalie. The Golden Eagles took the 1-0 lead at the 12 minute mark. Bulich later added to the Golden Eagle lead with a goal of her own in the second half and totaled three points on the day, and the first points of her Brockport career!
Courtney Szczesniak netted the second Golden Eagles goal when Kelsey Sammon retained a rebound from her own corner kick and crossed the ball far post to Szczesniak who ricocheted it off her right foot into the back of the net and the 2-0 lead in the 36th minute of the first half.
Bulich's goal came immediately after the start of the second half. The freshman forward made her way to the opposite post of Christina Leonardo, who was rushing down the field with the ball as several defenders swarmed her. Leonardo sent a cross in perfect unison with Bulich's arrival to the box. Bulich lowered her head to the descending cross pass and buried it into the net for the 3-0 Brockport advantage.
The Golden Eagles final goal of the game came in the 84th minute of play. Stefanie Drago baited a Maverick player into a bad pass in which she intercepted and dashed down the right sideline. As she encroached the goalie box she sent a looping cross pass to the center as Vanessa Baldwin struck the ball with her left foot inside the posts for the first goal of her Golden Eagle career.
Twenty five of the Golden Eagles saw action today including both goalkeepers Catherine Eliasson and Daniele Ogrodowski. For the second time this year the Brockport defense has held its opponent scoreless and not enough can be said to the efforts of the Golden Eagles defense in this contest. They thwarted any attempt Medaille was able to muster and also helped push the tempo for the Brockport offense, continually sending balls into the Mavericks defensive zone.
The Green and Gold return to action once again at home this Monday with a night game against D'Youville at 7:30 p.m on Bob Boozer Field inside Eunice Kennedy Shriver Stadium.
