The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced its annual awards on Thursday, December 18th with the Golden Eagles capturing two major honors and placing four student-athletes on All-ECAC teams.
Highlighting the announcement, goalkeeper
Emily McCane was named the ECAC Defensive Player of the Year, while head coach
Mike Idland was recognized as the ECAC Coach of the Year.
ECAC DPOY & First Team
Erasing opposing offenses throughout the 2025 season,
Emily McCane adds ECAC Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-ECAC honors to her mantle. McCane was the definition of "constancy" in between the pipes, finishing the season with a nearly flawless 0.25 goals-against average and a .920 save percentage. Finishing with an individual record of 9-0-3, McCane anchored a unit that did not concede a single goal during her 543 minutes of conference play. With Empire 8 Goalkeeper of the Year and a United Soccer Coaches First Team All-Region selection under her belt, McCane's ability to organize the back line and produce acrobatic saves has solidified her status as one of the premier keepers in the country. Alongside
Madeline McCrosson,
Karissa Champion,
Cameryn Childs, and
Ada Canzoneri, the Rochester, NY native led Brockport to a national second-best in save percentage (92.2%), and sixth-best shutout percentage (75%).
ECAC Coach of the Year
Coming off his second consecutive Empire 8 Coaching Staff of the Year award,
Mike Idland has now been recognized as the ECAC Coach of the Year. Alongside assistants
Kody Haywood,
Kate Wagner, and
Jaylah Cossin, Idland orchestrated a season for the record books. Under his guidance, the Golden Eagles posted an undefeated 10-0-1 conference mark and an overall record defined by statistical dominance, outscoring opponents 36-7. Idland's tactical setup resulted in 15 shutouts in 20 games, and his "defense-first" philosophy has turned Brockport into a regional powerhouse. Across nine seasons at the helm, Idland has guided Brockport to 12+ victories in four of his last six seasons, posting back-to-back 14+ win seasons for the first time since the 2006-07 seasons.
All-ECAC First Team Selections
Joining McCane on the First Team is standout defender
Ella Camalleri. A workhorse on the back line, Camalleri finished third on the team in minutes (1,501) and played every single second of the final six games of the season. Her discipline and positioning were vital to a defense that finished second in the country with a .278 goals-against average, helping five Golden Eagle goalkeepers finish with a GAA under 0.90. Camalleri has started 39 of 40 games for the Green and Gold since arriving in 2024 and has become a staple of the Brockport starting lineup.
All-ECAC Second Team Selections
Amelia Breton: The Empire 8 Midfielder of the Year was the offensive spark plug for Brockport. Breton led the team in points (21), goals (9), and shots (55). Whether she was late-trailing into the box or facilitating play from the center circle, Breton was a constant threat, finishing with career highs in assists (3), shots on goal (40), and minutes played (1283).
Lyndsey Miller: A two-time Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Year, Miller's veteran leadership was the heartbeat of the defense. She logged a team-high 1,668 minutes, helping the Golden Eagles allow only one goal in conference play. Miller was equally dangerous on set pieces, contributing four goals and an assist to the offensive effort. Miller finished tied for the conference's third-best mark of three-game winning goals. The Saratoga Springs, NY native had a knack for the crucial moments, with 75% of her scoring production serving as the deciding goal.
The four selections and two major awards underscore a new standard of excellence at A. Huntley Parker Jr. Field, as the Golden Eagles continue to rise as a national threat in Division III soccer.
