Box Score 2 BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport Volleyball team dominated the courts Saturday afternoon with two consecutive 3-0 match wins at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) Tournament. The Golden Eagles defeated Alfred by scores of 25-10, 25-13 and 25-9 before beating Medaille also in straight sets for the second time in as many weekends by scores of 25-23, 25-23 and 25-21.
Brockport (13-1) utilized a wealth of talent to dominate the floor on Saturday. Several Golden Eagles excelled in the matches while the attack was led by Emily Flohr in the win over Alfred and Brianna Richardson and Sam Holdredge in the second match against Medaille.
Several Green and Gold student-athletes excelled from the service line in both contests. Sophomore Noelle Poloncarz led the team with four aces against Alfred. The setter and back-to-back winner of Brockport Female Athlete of the Week also led Brockport with 12 assists.
Libero Kathleen Irwin had two aces for Brockport in the win versus Medaille. She also led the team with 24 digs while two other Golden Eagles topped double digit dig totals. Holdredge and Maddy Taylor combined for 27 digs in the three set match.
Poloncarz tallied 36 assists, closer to her average numbers on the season. She paired with Richardson to form a nearly unstoppable duo in the match. Richardson finished with 11 kills to only one error and held a .556 hitting percentage. Holdredge also had 11 kills in the match.
On the day, Irwin led the team with 42 digs and five aces. Senior Kayla Barber also contributed 11 kills combined in the matches. Richardson combined for seven blocked shots in the match.
