Brockport, NY – The College at Brockport women's soccer team is on the road this weekend to continue SUNYAC play. Brockport will take on Potsdam at 4 pm on Friday, before heading to face Plattsburgh at 1 pm on Saturday.
Recent Action: This past weekend the Golden Eagles were at home for conference contests with Cortland and Oswego. The team split the weekend results, losing to Cortland, 2-3, before defeating Oswego, 2-0. With a win and a loss in SUNYAC play, Brockport's record now stands at 5-4-1 overall and 1-1- in the conference.
Pettit's Performance: Freshman
Camryn Pettit was extremely productive in the last two games, playing a role in all four of the team's goals. She tallied two assists in the loss to Cortland, before scoring two goals in the win over Oswego. Pettit is now leading the team with five scores on the season, and tied for first on the squad with 12 total points.
Conference Picture: After the first weekend of conference play in the SUNYAC, Brockport has three points in the standings with a 1-1 mark. The team is tied with Oneonta, Potsdam, and Buffalo State. Only three teams are higher in the standings with four league points, as Geneseo, Cortland, and Fredonia all are 1-0-1 in conference competition.
Finding a Groove: Coming off a win in their last outing, the Golden Eagles have just one loss in the last five games. The team has won three of its last four, including wins over Oswego, Juniata, and Canton. With conference play underway, Brockport looks to capitalize on this momentum.
Far From Home: The Green and Gold will be vacant from the home field for a couple weeks, with a four-game road trip coming up. The trip away from home begins this weekend with road games on Friday and Saturday. Next weekend (Oct. 11
th-12
th), the team travels again to take on Buffalo State and Fredonia. The next home contest for Brockport isn't until Friday, October 18
th when it hosts Oneonta.
Scouting Potsdam: The Bears are 5-5 overall and 1-1 in the conference heading into the weekend matchup. After defeating Buffalo State, 2-0, to open up league play, the team fell to Fredonia in overtime in its last outing. Despite being .500 on the season, the Bears have yet to win a game on their home field. Lexi Dean leads the way for Potsdam with a total of 20 points on seven goals and six assists.
Scouting Plattsburgh: Plattsburgh is coming off a tough loss in overtime to Buffalo State, making its record 4-3-1 overall and 0-1-1 in SUNYAC competition. The Cardinals are 3-2 at home with wins over Castleton, RPI, and Colby-Sawyer. The team will take on Geneseo Friday, Oct. 4
th before hosting Brockport for Saturday's matchup. Kirsten Villemaire leads the team with seven goals, while teammate Sarah Bonner has a team-high four assists.
Looking Ahead: The Golden Eagles are on the road again next weekend for two more SUNYAC battles. They will face Buffalo State on Friday at 4 pm and Fredonia that Saturday at 1 pm.
