Brockport, NY – The Golden Eagle women's soccer team enters the final week of the regular season, looking to lock up a spot in the postseason. They travel to face Geneseo at 3pm on Wednesday, before coming home on Saturday for a 1pm match with Potsdam.
Senior Day: The final game of the regular season will be held in Brockport, NY on Saturday. It will be Senior Day for the Green and Gold, as the program will honor and recognize the senior class. There will be a short ceremony prior to the start of play to celebrate

SUNYAC Picture: With the regular season coming to a close, so far New Paltz is the only team to officially clinch a spot in the SUNYAC Tournament. The postseason for the conference is scheduled to start on October 28

Latest Results: In a pair of home contests, the Golden Eagles went 1-0-1 against conference opponents last week. They defeated Fredonia, 1-0, for the 11
th win of the season.
Sophia DeAngelo was assisted by
Karlie Mann on what became the game-winning goal. Brockport then battled Cortland to a 0-0 draw, resulting in a 4-point week in regards to the SUNYAC standings. The squad is now 11-2-3 overall, having its best season since 2012 when the program went 15-3-2 during a run to the ECAC Championship game.
Athlete of the Week: Goalie
Madeline McCrosson was recently named the SUNYAC Women's Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week for the Green and Gold. She made a total of 12 saves across a pair of shutouts last week in net. It is the second time this season that McCrosson has earned this weekly honor from the conference.
How We Stack Up: Head Coach
Mike Idland has the team playing at a high level, with the numbers in the win column and on the stat sheet providing the proof. Across the SUNYAC, Brockport is the only team with double-digit wins overall on the year so far. The Golden Eagles have only allowed five goals all season, the fewest of any team in the conference. They are also second in the SUNYAC with 36 goals scored.
Strictly against conference opponents, Idland's squad has given up just three goals. Statistically, Brockport leads the SUNYAC in total shots (299), goals against average (0.31), and shutouts (12). The team is 10
th in the nation in goals against average, sixth in save percentage (.925), and tied for seventh in shutout percentage (.750).
Putting Up Numbers: Brockport's leading point scorer,
Jaylah Cossin is currently second in the SUNYAC with 25 total points. She leads the team with nine goals and seven assists, ranking third and second in the conference for each respective category.
Katie Hotaling (3g, 3a) and
Lara Kanbur (4g, 1a) each have nine points on the season. Freshman
McKenna Slate has eight points from four goals this year, while Longin is at seven points with three goals and one assist.
McCrosson's Big Year: Sophomore goalkeeper,
Madeline McCrosson has been outstanding in net for the Golden Eagles all year. She is 10-2-3 as the starter in net, recording eight solo shutouts with three combined shutouts, 53 saves, and a .930 saves percentage. Across all of DIII women's soccer she ranks 11
th in the nation in save percentage, tied for seventh in shutouts, 10
th in goals against average (.294), and is 28
th in total goalie minutes played.
Trip to Geneseo: The Knights are fighting to clinch a postseason spot just as Brockport is going into Wednesday's matchup. Geneseo enters the week 6-2-6 overall and 2-0-5 in conference play. Currently undefeated at home, 3-0-2, Geneseo has won eight straight games against the Green and Gold dating back to 2014. #21 Abby Foster, #17 Lindsay Wright, and #6 Juliette Frischmann have all scored four goals this season for the Knights.
Hosting Potsdam: The Potsdam Bears enter this week 3-7-2 overall and 1-5-2 against conference opponents. They are one of two teams in the SUNYAC to already be eliminated from postseason contention. In this matchup, Brockport has won three in a row and four of the last five meetings with Potsdam. Last year on the road, the Green and Gold won, 1-0, with
Lucy Crounse providing the lone goal.
