BROCKPORT, N.Y. – On Monday, October 13th, the Empire 8 Athletic Conference announced that Brockport Men's Soccer goalkeeper, AJ Nelson, has been named the Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Week. This well-deserved honor was secured by the team's recent 1-0 shutout against rival St. John Fisher.
The sophomore from Fairport, NY led the Golden Eagles to a thrilling rivalry win over the Cardinals, giving him his third clean sheet of the season. Nelson was essential in the net, making two crucial saves to preserve the shutout. His stellar performance continues a remarkable run, as he remains unbeaten as a starter, boasting an impressive goalie record of 5-0-1.
The victory over the Cardinals gives Brockport five wins in the last eight head-to-head matchups against St. John Fisher.
The Golden Eagles have their sights set on their upcoming schedule as they prepare for a pair of key conference matchups. They will first host Alfred on Wednesday at 6 p.m. before they hit the road and face Utica for the last regular season game on Saturday, October 18th, at 2 pm
