Brockport Soccer Teams Shine in the Classroom, Earn USC Team Academic Awards

Kansas City, MO – The United Soccer Coaches announced last Friday the College Team Academic Award winners, recognized for their strong performance in the classroom during the 2024-25 year. SUNY Brockport was one of just 151 schools to have both the men's and women's program honored.

A total of 697 soccer teams posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, to earn the United Soccer Coaches team Academic Award for 2024-25. The Brockport women's soccer team, led by Head Coach Mike Idland, boasted a 3.41 GPA to earn the distinction. The men's team, led by Head Coach Gary LaPietra, earned the honor with a 3.17 GPA in 2024-25.

In 2024, the men's squad finished 7-6-5 overall, posting a 5-3-3 record in Empire 8 play and earning the #5 seed in the conference tournament. Brockport's season came to an end in the Empire 8 Semifinals against #1 seed St. John Fisher, falling in the shootout (3-1).

The women's team went on a historical run, which concluded with a 1st Round loss to Wesleyan in the NCAA Tournament. Brockport finished the season 15-2-2 overall and 10-1 in Empire 8 play. Brockport got off to its best start in program history, remaining undefeated through 10 games at 9-0-1 without allowing a single goal. With 15 clean sheets on the season, the 2024 team broke the single season shutout record of 13 (1995 & 2023). Brockport also set a new record for most shots in season (419) and it was just the fifth time in program history the squad reached 15 wins.

Brockport begins the 2025 season on August 29th, as the women travel to Skidmore (3pm) and the men host RIT (7pm).
