BROCKPORT, N.Y - On Tuesday, September 2nd, the Empire 8 announced its weekly selections for Men's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Player's of the Week. Goalkeeper Matthew Sandison was named the Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Week following an excellent debut between the pipes in Brockport's 1-0 win over RIT on Friday.

The sophomore from Beacon, NY, led the Golden Eagles to a home opener win over RIT in his first career start, making five saves in a complete game shutout win. Sandison overcame an early RIT onslaught, making three saves in the first 13:32 of the contest to keep Brockport within striking distance. 

The win over RIT marks back-to-back seasons with season opener wins over the Tigers, with Brockport opening the season with a draw or better in four straight home openers.

The Golden Eagles will prepare to host Rochester on Wednesday at 7 pm before hosting Clarkson for senior day on Saturday, September 6th at 3 pm.
