BROCKPORT, N.Y- On Monday, September 8th, the Empire 8 conference announced its selections for Men's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week. Freshman
Ryan Mathis was named Co-Offensive Player of the Week following an exceptional offensive performance against the University of Rochester.
The Fairport, NY, native single-handedly powered the Brockport offense against Rochester, netting two goals in the Golden Eagles' 2-2 draw with Rochester. Mathis would make national news with his first goal, with his header landing at #9 on ESPN's Top Ten Plays of the Day. The freshman's second goal would come on a penalty kick in the second half, giving Brockport a 2-1 advantage at the 68:05 mark.
On the week, Mathis finished with two goals for four points, adding eight shots, five on goal. He has played 60 minutes or more in all three outings for the Green and Gold, posting a shot or better in each contest.
Brockport will head to #16 Buffalo State on Wednesday, September 10
th, at 7 pm.
