BROCKPORT, NY - On Monday, January 19th, the Empire 8 conference announced Brianna Carey as the Women's Basketball Co-Athlete of the Week following a excellent 3-0 week for the Golden Eagles.

Across three starts for the Green and Gold, Carey averaged 16 points, 2.6 steals, and 2.6 rebounds, providing a career-best outing in a 75-53 win over Utica last Friday. The Mechanicville, NY native was unstoppable from beyond the arc, making six of eight attempts from three for a career-high 24 points, adding three steals. In Brockport's comeback win over SUNY Poly on Saturday, Carey added another three makes from downtown, finishing with 14 points and a season high six assists.

In her first season with the Green and Gold, Carey has brought stability to the starting lineup, averaging 11.3 PPG, 2.3 SPG, and 2.7 RPG on excellent .449/.350/.788 shooting splits. Starting all 15 games for Brockport, Carey leads the squad in steals (35, E8 8th) and field goal percentage (44.9%, E8 7th), ranking within the top-10 of the conference in both categories.
