BROCKPORT, NY - On Monday, February 16th, the Empire 8 conference named
Stephanie Jean-Baptiste Women's Basketball Co-Athlete of the Week following a strong week of action and an explosive Senior Day performance.
In a perfect 2-0 weekend for the Green and Gold, Jean-Baptiste averaged 21 points, 10 rebounds, and three steals, beginning with an effective outing against SUNY Poly. In an 85-62 National Girls and Women in Sports Day win over the Wildcats, Jean-Baptiste paced the Brockport offense with strong efficiency, leading all scorers with 16 points (7-14 FG) on excellent 66% shooting from beyond the arc (2-3). Jean-Baptiste would add five rebounds, four assists, and a steal in a well-rounded outing for the Green and Gold.
In a 73-64 senior day victory over Utica, the senior from Jersey City, NJ, would provide another memorable outing. SJB would do it all for Brockport in the regular-season home finale, finishing with a double-double. She would lead all players with 26 points, 15 rebounds, and 5 steals, setting a new career-high in rebounds.
Amid another historic season, Jean-Baptiste leads the Empire 8 in scoring with 19.3 PPG, snatching 5.9 rebounds per game with 2.3 steals per contest. She currently holds Empire 8 top-ten marks in field goal percentage (45.1%, 7th), free throw percentage (79.8%, 4th), and steals per game (2.3, 6th).
Women's Basketball has clinched the #2 seed for the Empire 8 Tournament, heading to SUNY Geneseo to close out the regular season on Tuesday, February 17th at 5:30 PM.
