BROCKPORT, NY - Following a decorated campaign for the Golden Eagles, the Rochester Chapter of the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) announced on Tuesday, March 10th, that senior
Stephanie Jean-Baptiste and junior
Mandy Brink have been named to the USBWA Rochester Area Women's First Team.
The selection serves as yet another achievement following a standout season for the guard duo, who were recently honored as Empire 8 All-Conference selections.
Stephanie Jean-Baptiste Cements Legacy
The selection is yet another major accolade for
Stephanie Jean-Baptiste, who was recently named the Empire 8 Player of the Year, earning First-Team honors for the second consecutive season. The Jersey City, NJ native led the Empire 8 conference in scoring, averaging 19.0 points per game while shooting a clinical 44.9% from the floor.
Jean-Baptiste proved to be a dynamic threat in every facet of the game, adding 5.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists per contest. Her season was highlighted by five Empire 8 Player of the Week nods and a D3hoops.com Team of the Week selection following a program-record 41-point outburst against St. John Fisher. She concludes her career as one of the most decorated players in program history, ranking in the top five all-time at Brockport in points (1,578), steals (194), made field goals (598), and made three-pointers (147).
Brink Reaches New Heights in Junior Campaign
Joining her in First-Team honors is
Mandy Brink, who lands on the USBWA list after a breakout junior season that also earned her an Empire 8 All-Conference Second Team selection. The Ashville, NY native posted career-bests in nearly every statistical category, effectively doubling her production from the previous year.
Brink finished the season second on the team in scoring with 13.5 points per game and led the Golden Eagles with an excellent 80.2% shooting mark from the free-throw line. Beyond her scoring, she served as the primary facilitator for the offense, averaging 3.0 assists and 4.9 rebounds per game, while proving to be a defensive pest with 57 total steals on the year.
