Brockport Moves into Second in Empire 8 Commissioner’s Cup Standings Following Winter Season

SUNY Brockport Athletics has climbed into second place in the 2025-26 Empire 8 Commissioner's Cup standings following the conclusion of the winter sports season, as announced by the conference on March 18.

After sitting in third place at the conclusion of the fall season, the Golden Eagles made a strong push during the winter months, jumping one spot into second place with a composite score of 0.728 and moving ahead of St. John Fisher in the updated standings. Brockport's rise was fueled by an impressive stretch of success, highlighted by runner-up finishes in men's basketball, men's indoor track & field, and both men's and women's swimming & diving, along with runner-up finishes in the fall for both men's and women's soccer.

"This is a reflection of the collective commitment and competitiveness of our entire department," said Director of Athletics Dr. Erick Hart. "To see so many of our programs succeed at a high level across multiple seasons speaks to the culture we've built here at Brockport. We're proud of where we stand, but we're also motivated to continue pushing forward this spring."

Brockport now sits firmly in second overall, trailing only SUNY Geneseo, which currently leads the Commissioner's Cup race. The Golden Eagles have created separation from the rest of the field as they head into the spring season.

The Empire 8 Commissioner's Cup measures overall athletic department success across all conference-sponsored sports. Points are awarded based on each team's finish in both the regular season and postseason, then calculated as a percentage of total possible points.

With the spring season underway, Brockport will look to continue its momentum and close the gap on the top spot. The final Commissioner's Cup standings will be determined following the completion of spring competition later this year.
