BROCKPORT, NY – Brockport goalkeeper Lauren Mastromarco was named the Empire 8 Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, September 21st, after anchoring the Golden Eagles' defense to two shutout victories over the past week.

Mastromarco delivered an elite stretch between the pipes, recording back-to-back clean sheets across 120 scoreless minutes in the cage.

She kicked off her award-winning week on Tuesday, September 15th, anchoring the Golden Eagles to a 2-0 victory over Oswego. Mastromarco led the defensive effort with two saves across 60 full minutes in the cage to lock down her first complete shutout of the week.

On Friday, September 18th, Mastromarco capped off the week with a spectacular performance during Brockport's 1-0 homecoming victory over Oneonta. Oneonta made a desperate push in the final quarter, earning four penalty corners and firing five shots toward the cage. Brockport's defense held firm under pressure, anchored by Mastromarco, who turned away four fourth-quarter shots as part of a 6-save performance to secure her second consecutive 60-minute clean sheet.

Six games into the season, Mastromarco leads the Empire 8 in total saves, shutouts per game, and holds the lowest goals-against average in the conference. Powered by her stellar play, the Brockport field hockey squad now boasts the lowest number of goals allowed in the Empire 8, holding an impressive 5-1 record on the season.
