BROCKPORT, NY - The Brockport Women's Basketball team will hit the road for a busy weekend of non-conference action, beginning with a matchup against Mount Saint Mary on Friday, November 14th at 6 PM. The Golden Eagles will then head to nationally ranked Trinity College in Hartford, CT, on Saturday, November 15th at 3 PM.
Last Outing: The Golden Eagles came up short in their season opener at Penn State Behrend, 83-76, on Saturday, November 8th in Erie, PA.
Mandy Brink started the season strong, scoring a team high 20 points with 11 rebounds, four steals, and three assists. Brink set new career highs in points, rebounds, and steals.
Ava Howie had an effective debut for the Golden Eagles, scoring 10 points (4-5 FG) with three assists in 18 minutes off the bench.
Stephanie Jean-Baptiste (15 points, 2 steals) and
Peyton Maneri (13 points, 3 steals) each reached double figures for the Golden Eagles.
Defensive Standouts: Causing 15 steals and 24 turnovers against PSU Behrend, six different Golden Eagles recorded a steal or better, with four Brockport players snatching multiple steals.
Mandy Brink and
Brianna Carey recorded a career best four steals, with
Peyton Maneri (3) and
Stephanie Jean-Baptiste (20 forcing multiple turnovers for Brockport.
Jackie Kozakiewicz and
Casey Mahony each added a steal off the bench for Brockport.
Deep Shooting: Despite falling at PSU Behrend, the Golden Eagles displayed effective three-point shooting, finishing the contest shooting nearly 43% from deep. Four Brockport players finished shooting 50% or better from beyond the arc, including
Mandy Brink (3-6),
Ava Howie (2-2),
Peyton Maneri (1-2), and Jackie Kozkiewicz (1-2).
Scouting Mount Saint Mary: The Knights are coming off a strong 2024-25 season, finishing 17-10 overall and 15-5 in the Skyline Conference. Mount Saint Mary is the defending Skyline Conference Champion, earning a bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Knights opened the 2025 season with a 23-point loss to New Paltz, with Friday marking the first meeting between the two schools.
Scouting Trinity College: The Bantams are coming off a successful season, finishing 2024-25 with a 19-9 record and earning an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. Following a first-round victory, Trinity would fall in the second round to the eventual national champions, New York University. Saturday will mark the first matchup between Brockport and Trinity College. The Bantams enter the season ranked #11 in the D3hoops.com Preseason Top-25.
