BROCKPORT, NY - On Monday, November 17th, the Empire 8 conference announced its selections for Women's Basketball weekly awards.
Stephanie Jean-Baptiste was named the Empire 8 Women's Basketball Co-Athlete of the Week following a strong weekend of non-conference play on the road.
In a 1-1 weekend for the Green and Gold, Jean-Baptiste averaged 20 PPG, 6.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals, and a block, highlighted by a 26-point performance in Brockport's win over Mt. St Mary. In the 30-point victory over the Knights, SJB shot an efficient 9/15 from the floor, including 50% shooting from beyond the arc (3-6), adding six rebounds and a block. Jean-Baptiste led the squad in scoring against #11-ranked Trinity College, scoring 14 points with seven rebounds and two steals in a strong overall performance. Through three games, SJB leads the Golden Eagles in three-pointers made (8), field goals made (20), and blocks (2), tied with
Josie Wray for the team lead in blocks. The Jersey City, NJ native has led the way with 18.3 PPG on the season.
The Golden Eagles currently sit at 1-2 to begin the season, with a road non-conference game against Hamilton College scheduled for Tuesday, November 17th at 7:30 PM.
