A Look Into the 2025 Field Hockey Season

Brockport, NY- The SUNY Brockport Field Hockey team will open the 2025 season on Friday, August 29th, hosting Allegheny College at 4 pm before facing off with Juniata on Sunday, August 31st at 1 pm.

2024 Recap: As first-year members of the Empire 8 in 2024, the Golden Eagles rolled to a historic 13-6 campaign, going 7-2 in Empire 8 regular season play. From September 21st to October 19th, Brockport embarked on a program-record nine-game winning streak, including four shutout wins. The 2024 squad posted a perfect 6-0 record in road contests, with Brockport's 13 wins serving as the most since 1994 (14), and the third most in program history. Following an Empire 8 Tournament loss to Hartwick to conclude the season, the Golden Eagles earned numerous team and individual accomplishments. Record Books: The 2024 senior class will go down as one of the most successful in the program's history, with several Golden Eagles adding their names to the record books. Coaching Staff: Krista Archambeau returns for her eighth season as head coach of the Golden Eagles, leading a resurgence within the program. Archambeau has led the Golden Eagles to a winning season in four of the last five seasons, posting a 33-20 record across her last three seasons. Rachel Bannatyne returns for her second season as Assistant Coach, helping lead Brockport to one of the most successful seasons in program history in 2024. The Brockport Field Hockey program welcomes four-year standouts Ella Buchanan and Paige Thowe to the coaching staff following excellent playing careers with the Green and Gold.

Key Returners: Despite losing seven of the top eight-point scorers from last season, the Golden Eagles return multiple key contributors from 2024. The Golden Eagles return their top scorer, Allison Greene, for the 2025 season. Greene led the squad with 10 goals and seven assists for 27 points in her freshman season. Standout freshman defender Terralyn McLaughlin returns for her sophomore year, starting 17 of 18 games in 2024. Brockport will retain an experienced defense and midfield, with Sophia Jones and Madison Kirkpatrick returning for their junior seasons. The pair combined for 27 starts in 2024 and are set to see increased action in 2025.

Fresh Faces: The Golden Eagles welcome 15 freshmen additions to the 2025 squad, including Clare Devine, Sydney Marceau, Makenna Hart, Elise Brady, Ava Sanchez, Emily Nestor, Leah LaDuca, Hannah Donahue, Erin Horn, Alexis Penree, Claire Williams, Julia Klodzinski, Isabella Cruz, Isabella Mayer, and Kaitlyn Malinowski. The new freshman additions will look to make an instant impact for the Green and Gold. "I'm extremely excited and enthusiastic about our Freshmen class - they're a really great group, who embody all of our core values as a team and come to work and get better each day. They are meshing well with all of our returners, and our upperclassmen are doing a phenomenal job stepping up and leading the way." - Head Coach Krista Archambeau
