Varsity football (4 years) and track (4 years). Started for three years on gridiron squad. Set school record for shot put on track team.
Completed Boston Marathon in 1967. Made 1980 Olympic team in canoeing. Won 7 national canoeing titles and was on national team from 1978-84.
Serves as head of physiology for U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado. Assistant, Associate and full professor at University of Kentucky from 1974-86. Color commentator for ABC's coverage of 1984 Olympics. Has served on dozens of local, national and international committees and published countless works within health and physical education field. Also taught at University of Maryland (1966-71) and Appalachian St. University (1971-74).
