The 1974 Men’s Soccer team was one of the best to ever play the game in Brockport’s rich soccer history. The team, which went on to capture the National Title, had a stellar season, boasting a record of 12-2-2. Prior to the ’74 team, the last recorded National Championship victory was in 1955 (Co-National Champs with Penn State because there were no divisions at the time). Of the 11 starters on the ’74 championship team, eight went on to play at the professional level. Going into the ’74 season the team had lost a number of great players because the previous year the college didn’t grant the team the opportunity to play in the playoffs after being ranked number one in the state. The soccer program as a whole can attribute it’s strong success to the influence of former coach Huntley Parker who’s influence was seen well after his retirement through the last Brockport men’s soccer All-American’s.
