Two-year performer in cross country and track and field; considered one of the greatest distance runners in school history; placed 10th at the 1988 NCAA Division III Cross Country National Championships to earn All-American honors; won the SUNYAC Cross Country title earlier that season; in track and field, set six individual school records, all of which still stand, including the 1,000, 1,500 and 5,000 meters at the indoor level, and the 1,500, 5,000, and 10,000 meters at the outdoor level; his mark in the 10,000 meters was set in 1988 at the state meet and still is the best in that meet's history.
Continued his running and racing career on both the regional and national level after graduation; won numerous races, including titles all over Rochester, Syracuse and other parts of New York State; captured the 10,000 meters at the Empire State Games in 1993; won Pittsburgh's Great Race with a 10K personal best of 29:31 in 1991; two-time winner of the Schenectady Stock-ade-a-thon 15K (1991, 1996); opened his own shoe and apparel store, the Sole Connection, in 2003 after a 15-year career learning the shoe and retail business.
Passed away in July 2005 at the age of 38 from sarcoidosis, a rare disease that strikes organs and, among other things, can cause shortness of breath.
