One of the College’s all-time running phenoms in both cross country and track and field; won seven New York State Track and Field titles during his career, and was a specialist in the steeplechase, in which he finished third at the 1978 NCAA Championships; was undefeated until the state and NCAA Championships in cross country as a senior; set six school records as a Golden Eagle.
After his collegiate days were over, embarked on an incredibly successful career as a master’s runner, competing for the New York Athletic Club and the Oregon Track Club; achieved world champion status in 1995 in the 5,000 meters; qualified for the Olympic Trials twice; also won the master’s division of the 5th Avenue Mile in 1995.
In 2003, founded American Athletic Institute, which is the world’s largest research and educational program studying the effect of social drug use on elite athletic performance; has worked with nearly all sport federations including the National Federation of High School Athletics, NCAA, NFL, NHL, the U.S. Olympic Committee, Sport Canada, the International Olympic Committee and the U.S. Navy SEALS.
