Two-year starter for both the volleyball (outside hitter) and softball (shortstop) teams at Brockport; All-SUNYAC and All-State selection in 1986 and 1987 for volleyball and All-Tournament selection both seasons for softball; helped Brockport to the SUNYAC Championship and NCAA Tournament berth for softball in 1987; Brockport female Athlete of the Year 1987; New York State Scholar Athlete 1987; Chase Lincoln First, Clark V. Whited scholarship award winner in 1987 for outstanding academic ability and service to the College through participation in extracurricular activities.

Began her teaching career at The Harley School in Rochester from 1988 to 1991; worked as a graduate assistant for Physical Education at Brockport in 1992-93 before continuing her teaching career for the Rochester City School District at School #19; successfully wrote grants for nearly $20,000 for School #19; District coordinator for the Nick Zona Elementary School Track Meet; Wellness Council leader and Peer Mediation coordinator for the school; successfully wrote a proposal that earned School #19 the Bronze level award from the Alliance for a Healthier Generation in 2011.

Named New York State Physical Education Major of the Year in 1987; earned Outstanding Physical Education Major of the Year from the National Association for Sport and Physical Education in 1988; graduated magna cum laude from Brockport.
