Nancy boasts a longstanding career in education and coaching. She dedicated 33 years of her life to teaching Physical Education, two years at Vestal Central School and then 31 years at Greene Central School. During her time as a teacher, Bromley also served as Athletic Coordinator from 1975-1993, Section IV Field Hockey Chairperson for 20 years and Chairperson for field hockey Empire State Games for three years.
Nancy coached three different sports throughout her career; gymnastics, track and field and field hockey. She dedicated a great deal of her time to the field hockey world and found great success in her time as a coach collecting 13 Susquenango Championships, three Division 1 Championships, six Sectional Championships, eight Regional Championships, two State Finals appearances and three State Championships. She concluded her career with an overall 325-53-20 record.
Because of her continued success and dedication, Nancy has received a number of awards including the NYS Coaches Association award (1978), NYS Coaches Association Special Honor Award (1986), the National Federation Interscholastic Coaches Award – Outstanding Field Hockey Coach from New York State (1991), WCDO radio station – Athlete of the Week for Field Hockey for 250th victory as Field hockey coach at Green Central School (1993), Press and Sun Bulletin Newspaper Co-Coach of the Year (1993), NYS Certified Field Hockey Officials State Service Award (1993), a feature in Faces in the Crowd – Sports Illustrated Magazine (1994), and the College at Brockport Alumni Association Community Service and Professional Achievement award (2016). In addition, she has also been inducted into several Hall of Fame’s including the Section IV HOF (1997) and the Greater Binghamton Sports Hall of Fame (2017).
Post retirement, Bromley continues to remain an active face in the community, volunteering her time as President of the Town of Greene Historical Society, a Greene Community Services Board Member, a Christian Caring Services representative, delivers meals on wheels for seniors, and more.
Nancy currently resides in Greene, NY with her husband, two children and six grandchildren, and is presently helping to write a book based on 120 plus Civil War Letters from a local soldier home to his wife.
