The 2002 Brockport football team, led by Head Coach Rocco Salomone, set a new program-standard with 10 victories and advanced to the NCAA Division III Football Championship Quarterfinals. The Golden Eagles were honored as the 2002 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Lambert Cup Champions, given to the most outstanding team of the year in the East. The Golden Eagles posted two victories in the NCAA Tournament against Springfield and Rowan.

The 2002 team featured five All-Americans, including Mike Condello, Ryan Bierley, Jeremy Lynch, Matt Walther and Jamie Rother. Condello, a Brockport Athletics Hall of Famer, remains the program’s all-time leader with 26 career sacks and he set the program’s single season record with 16.5 sacks in 2002.  Bierley was one of the top tacklers on the team on the defensive line, while Jeremy Lynch was an impact player on defense and in the return game. Walther led the team in interceptions and Rother was one of the top tight ends in the country. Runningback Adam Webster posted seven consecutive 100-yard rushing performances in 2002, including a 200+ yard performance against St. John Fisher. Webster’s 1,473 yards in 2002 ranks second all-time at Brockport.

The NCAA Tournament berth marked the third of four consecutive NCAA Tournament bids for Salomone and the Golden Eagles.
